As soon as i entered the shop there was someone there to serve and welcome me. Asked if i wanted a tea or coffee and directed me to a seeted waiting area. Although the shop was very busy, the staff never left you in the lurch .You were always informed truthfully as to how long they think you will have to wait .Once taken they were very proffesional and concerned about what you needed .With a good talk thru whilst eye examination was carried out .As for the practitioner Anthony Harry well i could hardly see for tears of laughter after the exam that is. Most relaxing. Also Thanks to steve the assistant manager for keeping me right at every stage of choosing specs. A great bunch of well trained staff. Exellent example of how to treat the public. I think this opticians only hires staff on a basis of how happy they are. I was genuinely very impressed by the customer care I received when getting my eyes checked, getting a contact lense fitting and choosing some new specs. I dealt with 4 different members of staff, all of whom were very approachable, cheery and helpful without being overbearing. With so many opticians out there(I walked past at least 2 others just in the St James centre as I made my way to this one), it can be hard to choose where to go. But based on customer care and professionalism, I recommend this one.

Vision Express is a chain opticians operating in pretty much every town center. You would imagine they are all the same but the customer service in this branch is beyond disappointing. I had my eyes tested in Vision Express in Perth and was given a prescription. Due to my poor student status, the nice lady gave me a form to fill out to receive a NHS discount. For that reason I couldn’t pick my glasses that day, but the optician told me it would be fine for me to fill my prescription at any Vision Express branch. So once I received my money off coupon I toddled on down to Vision Express in the St James Centre. Well according to the rather scary woman behind the counter there was no way in hell I could fill my prescription at any other store and it had to be the store I had my eyes tested in. We argued back and forth for a good 20 minutes before she turned me away. Poor show, you don’t want my money? FINE. I will take it elsewhere. Thanks for the inconvenience. Funny how apparently I could only get my glasses at the one Vision Express branch where I had my eyes tested yet Tesco’s opticians were happy enough to sell me some. Next time I won’t use Vision Express.
