Very poor hotel! This surprisingly was a real let down! Yes, it’s new and the rooms are very clean! That sadly is were it ends… The check in is automated and completed by you, when you arrive at the check in desk via an iPad. During our stay, the night staff(a young man) was extremely rude and abrasive when complaining about our guests in the next room, partying with the low bass reverberating through the walls at 1am in the morning and house keeping doesn’t start until late in the morning. We needed a second set of towels and called house keeping early in the morning(no answer of course) and then called the front desk, who acted as though it were an inconvenience to bring us towels informing us that they’d have to bring them up themselves. You can hear the doors slam shut as there is inadequate sound proofing and the light from the hallway seeps underneath the access door. On a plus note, there is free parking and WiFi. The bed was very comfortable to sleep in and the restaurant and it’s staff are very professional, and friendly. Great for drinks and cocktails. The breakfast is also very good. It’s a shame this was such a negative experience. This is supposed to be a 4-star hotel and shortly was more on par with what one would expect from a days inn.

We had a lovely relaxing over night stay here last night for the first time. It was a last minute decision so lucky we got a room as the Edinburgh festival is on. The hotel was plush, like Malmaison style décor but fresher and not so dark. We opted for an upgrade which got us an extra comfy bed, extra soft bedding, upgraded toiletries, Starbucks coffee in to he room, sky movies, boss sound system, breakfast, spa access and 10% off food and drink. It wasn’t that more than a standard room so was worth it if not only for the massive bed and duvet :). The staff act a bit posh and not very chatty/relaxed which annoys me but I guess that’s what you get with a plush hotel. Luckily it was a glorious weekend and we got lots of sun, lazing about the heated indoor pool felt like holiday and it was nice and relaxing and overly busy. The buffet breakfast was nice too, the usual semi dry got plate food but good selection of continental and hot breakfast. We didn’t go to the hotels restaurant or bar at all but they looked really relaxed and comfortable although a Cesar salad was £18 which is pretentious. I just loved the décor and would go back to stay here for sure, it was a great stay.

I’ve been using the swimming pool here for the last month or so & have also eaten in the bar & restaurant a couple of times. The pool facilities seem pretty good to me although the pool itself is 5 metres too short for decent swimming & is similarly too narrow for comfortable lane swimming when more than one adult is in a lane. Corrosion(or at least staining) is already visible on the metalwork in the male showers and the tiles in the locker area do not feel totally safe with wet feet(something the staff seem to have noticed as large towels were in use on part of the floor this morning). The food in the bar & restaurant is decent enough and the service has been good on the occasions I’ve made use of that element of the place.
