We live closeby but had never been before. We booked at short notice on the basis of their petit menu, without realising that this is a lunch and pre-theatre offering, so we ended up with the standard a la carte. The dining room is attractive, but was largely empty(it was a Wednesday night), which reduced the atmosphere somewhat, but that made for great service. The gentleman serving us was, we presume, the proprietor, was pleasant, helpful and knowledgable about all the dishes, including the rhubarb from his own garden! The food was generally excellent, with the rabbit and lamb dishes worthy of special mention. For coeliacs, I could choose from everything on the menu, but the chef catered for me very well. Portion sizes were on the small side but beautifully presented. We didn’t feel hungry at the end of the meal. The cost was about £56 per head with tip, including pre-dinner drink and one bottle of wine so it would be a special night out, but really well worth it. I’d go there again.

A recently opened gem. A little bit of country house hotel luxury in the city centre. We summed it up: «it’s a startlingly good place. Their menu gives you headaches, as every dish sounds just as tempting as the others. Visit soon, let it weave its spell, then revisit often.»
