The Meadows Fish Bar

This is another chip shop /​pizza parlour /​kebab house that are all the rage in Newington, however the Meadows Fish Bar does none of these particularly well. Despite it’s name the fish is not good, it is almost flavourless and over battered. There is the standard Scottish tradition of battering everything so you are never short of a good selection of heart attacks in a box.
The pizzas and kebabs are no better; they are greasy and stodgy. Admittedly you’re not looking for a Michelin star when you go to a kebab house but these really are pretty bad, and the salad, when there is any, is frequently dried out. The Fish Bar is not open particularly late, when it could potentially get a lot more custom from drunk people not caring about their food, and is not too cheap. If you feel the need for some proper comfort food then nip across the road to Franco’s, it’s cheaper, better food and the people there are much nicer
