The Edinburgh Evening News’s 2015 Pub of the Year, The Bowlers Rest is tucked away at the eastern end of Mitchell street. A cosy front bar, well stocked with whiskies but lacking real ale, leads through to a pool table in the rear which looks like it would be a pleasure to play a few frames on.
Clearly a well patronised pub in the community it obviously deserves it’s recent honour so if you fancy somewhere slightly off the beaten track to be made welcome whilst taking in some sport on the tv or making use of that pool table, you should give it a look.
