If I lived near Tesco and had easy access, I might take it for granted. For perspective, the only thing close to Tesco in terms of food and price in NY is Fairway, and unlike Tesco, it’s not in every neighborhood or easy to pop into. Excellent prices on quality, fresh ingredients. Labelling tells you the source of everything in the store. Tesco brand is high quality. Sandwiches are delicious, baked goods are fresh. This is good living.

A good sized Tesco superstore in a rapidly improving area of the city(foot of the walk/Leith Links) with good free parking(accessed from Easter Road). We’re really quite lucky to have a good quality supermarket squeezed into a busy urban space. There is a Lidl in the shopping centre across the road, but for all round range and convenience the Tesco wins hands down. What they really need to do is squeeze a Costa outlet in as this end of Leith Walk needs more decent places to get a quick coffee and a cake.

I rather like the Tesco actually. Located on Duke Street, and accessible from Leith Walk and Easter Road, it has what you’d call a colourful clientele… but what’s life without a bit of variety? It’s a good size — not superstore big, but a decent, proper supermarket size, and easily reached by a variety of buses. It’s big enough to have an electricals section, but not big enough to stock clothes. It has everything you need, and being Tesco, a great world foods aisle with massive bags of rice etc. as well as lots of Eastern European foods, and American and Irish products too — just in case you fancy some Taytos or Barry’s tea. The American products, whilst pricey, are considerably cheaper than in those American Candy Store type places. There are hot food, deli and fish counters too if you fancy something a bit fresher and not already packaged, as well as all the usual supermarket fare. In short, it’s a great resource in this part of town and makes a nice change to ‘metro’ stores!

All I need to know: 1. They have Cidona. 2 litre bottles. 2. They have proper marrowfat peas, which are impossible to get here it seems so you need to find an Irish brand. 3. These things can be found in the ‘Irish foods’ section sandwiched between American tooth-rotting candy and some Polish jars of pickled things. That is all. Apart from that, it’s a great big Tesco, well stocked, always busy. They have quite a range which extends to clothes and electrical items. Outside is a bit of a hangout for those ‘local locals’ who may have just been ‘asked to leave’ The Spey. But I’ve never had any trouble.

This is a ‘Superstore’ and the biggest close by supermarket for Leith /Shore residents. It has 2 entrances one at the Tesco Car park at the back and the back entrance on Duke Street. It is a Tesco supermarket and they do what supermarkets do. In addition to that they have also clothes and electricals available. For a so-called Superstore it is a little small. but it supplies what is needed and it is open from 06:00 till Midnight. Be aware that the law of baying alcohol before 10am and after 10pm also counts for supermarkets. Some Leith residents tend to ‘forget’ that rule and get into a discussion a the till. — happened a few times. They have a section dedicated to self-service tills and 2 fast lane basket only cashiers. They are not as frequently visited by me, certainly after the whole Horse meat scandal. But they are a handy go to for packaged products. Whiskies, spirits, wine and chocolates. — that’s about it. Not the worst of shops, but not the best either

Tesco at the fit o the walk! Well, its Always busy, which makes it hard to get around as the isles are so narrow, Trolley rage inevitable! The ques are always huge, with never enough staff on, which has resulted in me walking out & leaving the trolley all bar once ! I Was there the other evening & downed yet another trolley & got the no 10 bus along to Asda at Newhaven ! Much nicer & relaxed place to shop & slightly cheaper too, but Tesco cheapy cat litter is better than Asda’s lol ;)

Went to this Tesco the day it opened! Bit of a traffic jam as people were out in force to see the new store! Returned tonight when we could see what they acually had! Seems the layout & stock is in line with the old Scotmid Store which was previously on this site,(including the Super drug outlet)! I’m guessing that they’ll gradually change the stock to meet demand but for now, probably wise to stick to what people know! There is a small fresh fish/meat counter & a deli counter selling hot chickens and a bakery counter! These tend to close early so don’t get caught out! There is also a small selection of budget clothing which is handy! There are a few electrical items available too! Will keep an eye on this one until it gets up to speed. There is a large car park to the rear, accessible from Easter Road & Leith Walk. There appear to be ample spaces dedicated to disabled & mother & baby!
