Nipped in here because the elephant house was too full! seats not very comfy but that’s the only thing wrong with this wee café. lovely decaf(I don’t drink full-caffeine so sometimes I’m subject to very horrible coffee — but not today!) natural wood everywhere, beautiful townhouse features, free water available, and lots of pretentious hipstery magazines for sale(with titles like ‘monocle’, ‘wallpaper’ and ‘peot’. had a very tasty slice of pumpkin loaf. not especially quiet when I visited, but quieter than the surrounding cafes!

Like Jenny L, I can say«It’s so quiet» … cue Bjork. I entered and I was the only person apart from the friendly Barista. I ordered a flat white(my standard coffee choice by far!). It was a good honest cup and give me more coffee go go go! Honstly i knew by that cup(third) before lunch I had to stop! The room is big, lots of seats and tables, feels like and old classroom — quite quirky in an old worldy way. I’d often passed whilst the place was a pop up for Artisian Roast and never ventured in but I’m glad i have now. Defo will be popping back in now and this time I may have a slice o’ cake!

Now isn’t this a lovely space to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee? I drink a lot of coffee in this end of town, and a lot of my favourite cups of coffee are in very crowded coffee shops. The original Stag Espresso is usually fairly busy at lunch time too, and a further walk. So, when I noticed the pop-up gallery space that previously housed an Artisan Roast coffee pop-up now housed a Stag Espresso pop-up, I was very happy. And even happier when there was a really friendly guy making the coffee and chatting with customers, big tables, good coffee and cakes, nice big windows to let in the light, and a slightly quiter café to sit in for a few hours. That won’t last long, no doubt, as we move into summer and festival season. But for the two hours I had to enjoy a flat white, work away on my laptop, this new pop-up /temporary(?) or maybe full-time resident coffee shop is a welcome addition to Victoria Street!
