So this place as history apparently, from what my husband tells me it used to be a dive and a pub where a lot of bad people would hang around. Good news the spice lounge has been all done up and the time of the rainbow(what it used to be called) is long gone. The surroundings are modern, the place is huge and caters for functions as well as small tables. I have been a couple times and food has always been nice, the menu could do with a little bit more description as if you are not familiar with Indian food you aren’t really sure what you are ordering. Staff there can be a bit mix, all nice especially if you get to meet the owner, a very friendly bubbly man. Though last time we went there although the place was unusually quiet we were received with noisy hoovering(it was 1pm) and a bored waitress who took ages to attend to us despite us being the only one in… Overall i will come back as it is well priced, convenient and nice.

Tasyed biryani. Ambience was ok. Good service. Definitely not the real dum biryani. Could have done better

The Spice Lounge Kitchen is in a restaurant desert. Slap bang in the middle of a residential area, you’d think that it’s got no chance and would be constantly empty; it’s not the first place to think of when you fancy some grub. However, despite its odd location I’ve visited twice and both times it was packed. The food is not the Indian that everyone knows and loves. Gone are the kormas, tikka masalas and vindaloos, replaced instead with popular traditional Indian dishes cooked from scratch by the chefs. A big favourite is the butter chicken, and I’ve also really enjoyed a lentil daal. The food is light and full of flavour. Portion sizes are not enormous, but they are perfect to fill a hungry tummy. Garlic naan breads are freshly baked and taste wonderful, and rice is fluffy and nomtastic. Service is also good. Maybe a bit too good actually, as waiters frequently pop over to ask if your meal is okay. One waiter made the comment that chefs will prepare any meal that you ask for if the menu isn’t to your taste and you just can’t go without a balti. It looks like SLK is happy to bend over backwards for its customers, and this, coupled with a really decent curry, is probably why it’s so busy!

Went there the first week it was opened. We had booked it for Friday Night. Whoever answered the Phone could not Speak very good English, I was then passed onto someone who could . When we arrived the place was very busy. There were a couple of guts sitting at the next table to us complaining that they had already been waiting thirty minutes after having their starter when their main course came there was only one! So they decided to leave at this point. We eventually given the menu only to discover it was a Tasting Menu(their words not mine) there was about four or five choices The food was ok but not enough fire In the food for my liking. The service was very slow & one of the waiters dropped some food onto the floor & just left it said in another diners review the Chutney & Lime pickle seved with the popadoms came in minuscule dishes. After the Meal we decided to go through to the bar area which was very bare & Soulless, there seems to be a mixture of Workers from all over Asia not just India Working in here, we ordered drinks After paying for them we noticed that there was no price list to be seen anywhere ! So we asked how much each drink cost separately & were astounded to know we had been overcharged £4.30. After this experience I am willing to give It another try next month to see if it was Only teething problems being a New Restraunt.

Terrible. I really wanted to like Spice Lounge and had been looking forward to it all week! When we arrived we were shown to our table and took in the lovely modern surroundings. Unfortunately that’s where the positivity ends Our waiter was rude and we all felt incredibly rushed into making our order. We ordered popadoms and some drinks to try and get him to back off a bit! The popadoms arrived fairly quickly but with a minuscule amount of dips the pots were so tiny the teaspoons barely fitted in! When we made our order(a reasonable 10 minutes after arriving) we were shocked that all four of us had chosen different items, all of which were unavailable! Rather than explaining, the waiter hurriedly wrote down a different dish for us whilst announcing it to us! We were all very confused at what was going on and asked him to give us 5 minutes to relook. Group consensus was to jump ship as the drinks hadn’t arrived after 15 minutes and we were all getting fairly annoyed by the attitude of the waiter and limited menu. It was Friday night at 7.30pm, surely they should have been well stocked! We left the £3.95(!!!) for our four popadoms on the table We decided to stick to what we knew best, Abida. Never disappointing and managed to save our night.

My wife and i have now been twice in the last fortnight to the Spice Lounge Kitchen. The first time was just out of intrest, to see the changes made to the old rainbow and to give it a try. Both of us were astounded, the difference is huge, the whole feel of the place has been transformed. We were greeted by Shamy at the door and from that first introduction we were treated superbly. The food is excellant, the service faultless and the experience one to be savoured. The second time was as the first, we are delighted to have found an excellant restaurant on our doorstep that not only offers superb cuisine but the space to relax and have a drink in comfort, in the bar section. Both of us can’t recommend the Spice Lounge Kitchen highly enough. Ray and Angie Sheerin.
