Of all the local supermarkets I have around me, I like this one the most for one reason. There is a staff member that works here who is easily the happiest man alive. Always smiling, asking how your day is going and what the rest of your day is going to bring. His name is Kyle and if you ever find yourself being served by him, pay attention to how happy you are when you leave. As for the store, it’s also one of the hald decent«express» stores in the area. Sometimes there are stock level issues on the dailies such as bread and milk but all in all it is a very clean and well maintained store selling everything that you need to top up your shopping with. If I had one complaint about the shop it would be like the rest of the reviews, there are sometimes occasions when you can stand in a queue for 5 minutes longer than needed after being followed around the shop by a security guard at the weekend all whilst there are staff members walking about chatting to each other. It’s local and it delivers. You sometimes get Guinness draught for £1 a can too which is good.

Shop prices increase and decrease quite often which is anoying if your trying to shop on a budget and have your shopping list planned out. Shop is not stocked that much through the day so you will go in to in to find hardly anything you were looking for. They do try to open as Many checkouts as possible which is a good thing. Not sure about the poster who said they have a nice selection of books and chart DVDs they are a small handfull at the most which are old. Securty guards Depends who is on shift but it’s extreamly anoying getting followed around the shop with him staring at you like your about to start a brawl. Funny thing is many people including myself have been shopping their longer than they have even had. Job their.

This store has recently been refurbished, it has a bigger range of chilled /fresh food. They have Paypoint /Lottery and an ATM machine outside. The store is clean, bright and now has 4 tills which are manned consistently. There is a good promotional offer and at the moment £1 for 4 pint of fresh and lo milk.

This branch is ideally situated for the locals to nip in and do some top up shopping, although I wouldn’t do a main shop here — the stock levels vary from week to week and I often go in only to find that they don’t have basic goods. As well as the usual groceries, fresh veg, fruit and meat, they have a quite a varied stock of alcohol, books, gift cards, and household bits and bobs like light bulbs etc. The staff are very friendly on the whole, but the management of staffing levels often leaves a lot to be desired, with regularly only one till open and a queue half way down the shop. You can pay your gas/electricity here, buy your bus pass and they now have a lottery machine, with an ATM located on the outside wall.

When I first visited the Scotmid in Oxgangs I was suprised about how big it was. The shop is well cleaned and maintained with offers on many products. They not only sell your standard items, they also have a great selection of value books, chart books and value dvd’s. During the day they have a hot counter where freshly baked pies and pasties are for sale. They have a pay point machine for gas, electric, phone top ups and bills. The only downfalls are that they do not have a lottery machine, you tend to find teenagers loitering about outside the shop in the evenings, a security gaurd follows you around the place when you do enter, making you feel awkward, and there is normally always a queue for the tills as they do not have many people serving.
