Another new supermarket on Lothian Road. This one is much bigger, as it replaces the old Bank of Scotland that was housed here. So, in contrast to the very small pokey Tesco Metro opposite, and the new medium-to-small Sainsburys that are opening everywhere, this one is sprawling and big… but I feel like they can’t think of enough things to fill it with. There’s lot of space between aisles, as you’d find in a supermarket out at the edge of town, but there isn’t any more variety or produce on offer than you’d find at a medium supermarket. I did, actually, come here for haggis on Burns’ Night and they had three types of haggis including higher quality stuff. So that was nice. But they could make much better use of the space, a la Waitrose on Byres Road Glasgow, to really supply lots of great stuff and provide a better supermarket rather than reproducing all the ones surrounding.
