Saltyard

SaltYard is a community café in a former church. It’s got a very relaxed atmosphere and the staff are very friendly.
They have an excellent selection of cakes, scones and tray bakes, all for under £2.50. The Oreo cupcakes were very tasty. They do a good selection of teas and coffees all of which are fairly traded.
The main reason we came here was that it is very baby friendly. We had a very tiny four week old and an 18 month old with us. There is loads of space for prams between the tables. There is a fenced off play area aka ‘baby play jail’ so the bigger one could happily play with the kitchen and cars while we enjoyed tea and cake. There were about another 6 under threes in café at the same time. That being said I’d go back without a small person as it was relaxed and the cakes were good.
They also hold regular events in the café including a home made trade event to swap excess jam, vegetables, baking etc for someone else’s excess products.
