I visited about a month ago with a voucher from a discount website. After getting my hair washed I was left alone for about 10 minutes before the hairdresser came back — not really acceptable especially given the salon was dead and therefore the stylists won’t have been rushed off their feet! The girl spent another 10 minutes at most cutting my hair, and whilst I asked that my hair be left a bit damp to dry naturally, she basically waved a hairdresser over my roots — bizarrely using the smoothing attachment to ‘straighten’ the top of my hair despite me saying I wear it curly. All in all I was in the salon for only about half an hour, and spent at most about 15 minutes with any member of staff. Not to mention that whist I asked for my hair to still be long, hardly anything was cut off at all — certainly not the length the stylist had indicated. I won’t be back.

When I was younger I would always go to Saks in Edinburgh to get my hair cut by Roy. I loved it, but for some reason found my loyalties laid elsewhere. I decided I would go back to Saks, my first love, but was amazed how different my experiences were. As Roy was so popular, I got my hair cut by another stylist. I didn’t really enjoy the experience, I felt uncomfortable as all the receptionists were asking to use products, get their hair styled etc throughout my cut. I think I was there for a total of 25minutes, which is amazing as I have a thick, thick head of hair — think Yeti thick. I left feeling thoroughly un-pampered and didn’t notice much of a change to my hairs length or style. It had been styled to look like I’d escaped from the 80s — all I needed were some shoulder pads and I could have been on Dynasty. I was disappointed in my recent experience at Saks, but maybe if I give Roy a try it might be better. Watch this space…
