I agree with the prior two reviews. I’m a local and desperately wanted the Roseburn to be ‘my’ pub, but although the ale is adequate and the link with sport obvious, there is a feeling that you’re not quite welcome… the staff just cannot crack a smile or add a friendly «hello». A real shame.

I have to agree more or less with Gibson. Roseburn bar does seem to be a pub for the locals. There was nothing particuarly appealing about it.
I have to say though that I didn’t find it friendly. No one was exceptionally rude or anything, I just didn’t feel that welcome. Yes the beer was quite cheap and yes they have a big plasma screen, but these really aren’t anything special.
The pub is quite larg and spacious but I didn’t particuarly like the décor, it felt a bit cold and sanitary. Ironic because the place had a funny smell.
Not the best pub in the world. Maybe it just has bad days. Certainly room for improvement.

This is definitely a pub for the locals. I came here after a Six Nations rugby match at Murrayfield and, whilst the drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is friendly enough, there just isn’t anything really unique about it. There is a plasma screen which shows the latest sporting events anad there is plenty of comfortable seating to relax with a drink on.
I didn’t see any food menu, but they do sell crispsand peanuts behind the bar. Then again, where doesn’t? The décor is nice inside and the staff are friendly. Whilst this isn’t exclusively a pub for locals, there isn’t much to draw you here from out of your way.

Good traditional pub handy for both Murrayfield and Tyncastle, there is a large bar and a couple of smaller bars. I like the traditional décor, the only downside is that it only serves one real ale. It is a bit of a local bar but its certainly not intimidating for no locals to go in.

This is the best pub in the Murrayfield area. A must for rugby matchdays — although be warned it gets really busy so don’t bother going if you aren’t there early as they close the doors once it gets full! On non-​matchdays it’s still very busy. Quite an older crowd there and it has kept its traditional décor. There is a large standing area by the long bar, with a smaller room with tables and other tables by the windows. The walls have loads of rugby memorabilia framed and signed. They don’t have a food menu though, at least not in the evenings when i’ve been there.

The Roseburn is a traditional pub situated to the west of Edinburgh close to Murrayfield stadium.
The interior of the pub is beautiful — all of the traditional features have been maintained and there is a bar area and a lounge area, both of which are very pleasant.
There is a friendly ambience in the pub and whilst it seems to attract mainly locals, it is worth a little trip further west to see in my opinion.
The pub gets particularly busy if there are rugby matches on at Murrayfield or if Hearts are playing football at home, so these might be times to avoid the place if you just want a quiet drink.
Staff are very helpful and on the ball — you shouldn’t have too long to wait for service here.
I would highly recommend you visit this pub if you are in the area — there are a few hotels just a short stroll from here!

A traditional Edinburgh pub on a corner site near Murrayfield stadium. Spacious with high ceiling, and lots of room at the bar.
This is a well run and organised pub that looks after its beer and is always a pleasure to visit.
Very busy on rugby days and when Hearts (the local football team) are at home. They have large tv’s to watch the sport on and theres always a good atmosphere
