This Indian place is delicious. We had lamb saag and chicken from Goa. The starter of fried something with chutney, pickled onions and mango sauce was delish. Bring your own wine.

Went here on a Sunday night, and the place was fairly dead. We were with a group of 6, so that didn’t matter too much. The menu just made my mouth water, everything sounded delicious. When the waitress came to attend our table, she asked if we had bottles with us. Slightly confused as we weren’t aware that it was a BYOB restaurant. No bother though, one of us went to the shop for some nearby wine. Even though it wasn’t busy at all, the waitress was a bit slow with attending our table. She also didn’t mention that there wasn’t any lamb shank and monkfish that day, before we made our order. This is a bit inattentive, since she had plenty of opportunity to let us know about this. After we placed our order she offered to bring some poppadums, which then took a wee while again for these to be brought over. The starter and mains arrived, and were absolutely amazing. 4 – 5 stars for the food for me. Very fragrant, flavoursome, beautiful plate arrangement. Unlike any other Indian restaurant I have been to. The mains were cleared and the waitress ignored us for the rest of the night. A big table of 10 arrived, but apart from that we were the only table in the restaurant. We weren’t offered the dessert card or coffees. We paid the bill, and went our ways. If we would have been served normally this restaurant could have been 4 stars, even 5 stars if the service would have been excellent. Now I’m in between 2 and 3 stars, because I felt very let down because of the service.

Best Indian food in the area for both sit in and delivery, as previously stated the menu differs from the standard stuff(no vindaloo, bhuna etc) but this is just one of the factors that make Rivage so goodl, try the tandoori king prawn if you like shellfish. some times they are monsters!!!

Rivage is a relatively new restaurant/takeaway on Easter Road which is a welcome change to the abundance of identical curry houses in the area. The dishes are all made freshly and seem to use a lot less ghee and oil than the average Indian restaurant. The dishes are unusual with a lot of fish options instead of the usual chicken kormas and bhunas. I recommend the goan fish curry in particular. There’s also a wide selection of starters including scallops and tasty kebabs. Both the takeaway and restaurant are very reasonably priced(takeaway prices are £6−9 for a main meal).

As Easter Road becomes more and more populated by young, urban professionals, a number of new cafes, boutique craft shops and restaurants have been opening to meet the growing demand. One of these new places is Rivage, a regional Indian restaurant with both a sit-in and take-away menu. From first entering, it’s obvious from the tasteful interior design, subtle, dark wooden furniture and gentle ambient music that Rivage is hoping to cater to the newer arrivals in the area. The menu, derivative of traditional Moghul cuisine and focusing around the Tandoori oven, isn’t the usual sauce-over-food style; the focus here is very much on the gourmet, with the spices of each dish being easily distinguishable and combining elegantly to create a more flavoursome curry than is commonly available. Fortunately, the only place their Easter Road location is reflected is in their prices — a three-course meal for two, with wine, is easily available for less than £40, and their take-away prices range from £6−9 for a main course.

When Rivage on Easter Road opened earlier in the year, i have to admit that I didn’t have high hopes, but it certainly surpassed my expectations. Decorated stylishly in quite a traditional style with a modern slant, this restaurant is warm and inviting. The food is cooked either in the kitchen at the back or in the tandoori in the corner of the room, so you can sometimes watch the chefs at work. Unusually for an Indian there is not a huge menu, just a nice selection of things that are a bit different from the norm. The currys are absolutely amazing with just the right amount of spice and heat. The kebabs are also great, not the usual dried out meat some places serve. Special praise should be reserved for the fantastic nanns which melt in the mouth and are delicious and buttery. This place is also fantasticaly good value for money, with attentive service from all the waiting staff

Twice I have been in Edinburgh in the past 3 months and twice we have gone to Rivage only to find it closed with no sign as to why. I walked by the evening before and the place was busy. Their sign outside and brochure found at the hotel say they are open 7 days. At least they could put up some indication as to why they are closed.

This fairly new Indian Restaurant on the site of the old Tiffin Restaurant, Easter Road, opened in 2007. It shies away from the normal choose your meat & choose your sauce kind of cuisine normally found in Indian Restaurants. The food is fresh with lots of interesting combinations. A particular favourite is the Goan green curry but you’d have to make your own mind up. The décor is fresh & modern without being stark. Value for money is good at £7.95 for the set lunch & the choice is good, dinner would set you back about double that I guess. Drinks prices are reasonable & the staff are very nice & helpful. A welcome addition to the up & coming Easter Road area
