I like Pinto. Their ingredients are fresh, their burritos are made quickly and staff are friendly. I generally either go for their chicken burrito or chilli con carne. Both are tasty — juicy w lots of flavour. If you’ve been to North America or London l, maybe you’ve had a Chipotle burrito. Pinto reminds me of Chipotle(and that’s a good thing!). The only thing I’m not a fan of is that they charge extra for guac.(I think they should include it in the cost!) The specific location has lots of seating, especially in the back. They have hot sauce if you sit in and the ‘good kind’ of plastic cutlery. Pinto have a loyalty scheme — buy 9 burritos and the 10th one is free! Expect to pay around £6 per burrito. Note — they can be busy during lunch time!

I’m a fan of Pinto in Glasgow, and this branch is no different, so I was pretty pleased to get some late night burrito action in Edinburgh. This restaurant is a small one, just perfect for grab and go or a quick sit down meal. The menu seems to be expanding since I last visited, so there’s a little bit more choice; they now have quesadillas on offer and some specials too. Fast, friendly service and tasty, filling food. — I’ve really no complaints!

The burritos here are good but nothing to write home about. The service is an absolute joke. There were three people in front of me and the guy with the unkempt goatee messed up every single order. When it was my turn I had to repeat my order four times!!! Com’on man! How hard is it to remember«beef burrito with black beans».

OK, so Ill clarify this review by saying that I am a west coast American who has tried anything that is even suggested to be «Mexican» in Edinburgh. Four stars is on the scale of what you typically get in Edinburgh(or in the UK or Europe) for«Mexican» food. Is this Chipotle? Is this Baja Fresh? NO. Is it the closest thing you will get to that in Edinburgh? Yes. So, the interior is nice, with a good deal of seating. There are lots of options, including vegetarian and they allow you to get burritos in tortillas or «bare» with all the fixings just in a bowl. We went for a variety of meats and vegetarian options in our group. Some things just arent going to be like real Mexican food. The meat just isnt super flavorful, the salsa is a bit under flavored as well, and I will never understand why people in the UK believe guacamole is just smashed up avocados alone. BUT, if you can get past these minor issues, Pinto is pretty decent fast-food«Mexican», especially if you add enough Cholula. This has become our go-to spot if we need a quick Mexican fix.

A decent burrito, got the lunch special for £7. You can only order the chicken burrito which I enjoyed with a can of drink. It was a decent burrito, I can’t say it was amazing but it did the trick. Added bonus was that I could add heaps of hot sauce to what would other be a bland burrito.

My friends and I were getting together before the rugby match last Sunday so we stopped here before our long walk to the stadium in the rain. I am used to good Mexican food coming from NYC and heard that all the Mexican food here is no good, but that doesn’t seem to be true! I had a chicken burrito with black beans and pico de gallo. Pinto reminded me of the famous Chipotle chain where you get to decide what you want on your burrito as you go down the line. For the price and the size, I was full and happy. I ate the whole thing so it couldn’t be that bad! I might stop by again if I am walking by and need a quick bite and I’m in the mood for a burrito.

Meh is the best way to describe my burrito. Honestly I don’t know how they do it but the salsa tastes insipid as do the beans. I had the pulled pork and it wasn’t flavourful, pretty much a one note, just spicy. My partner had a quesadilla with pulled pork and cheese with the medium salsa. I actually liked his meal more than mine but he thought it was way too spicy. Medium spicy salsa should awaken your taste buds not take over. I would say the spiciness took over, you couldn’t decipher any other taste but it was a cold day and the melted cheese was nice. Overall, I would say Pinto seems to be like a fast food place but not very good. I would recommend going to lupe pintos and buying real Mexican ingredients and making your own food. It would be way better, trust me.

It’s decent but I think once you’ve had an illegal jacks it ruins you for all other burritos. Still licking the wounds from that place closing so I’m maybe being a bit tough on pinto. The meats a bit sub standard. I got pulled beef which was like mush even for pulled. Got the steak option next time and It’s not much different, like those thin little bits of shoe leather u get in Chinese takeaway dishes. Maybe I’m just used to the unbelievable steak in illegal jacks… Service lacks as well they always seem to have loads of staff behind that wee counter but it still takes ages to get served. The three times I’ve been in the person serving has ripped the tortilla while rolling. On the other hand their mild salsa is packed with flavour and it’s inexpensive.

Gave this a try for lunch. Like the idea of the fast food mexican but found this a bit bland. Fast service, okay prices. Service could have been a little bit more informative, never asked if we knew about any of their deals.

Yes! A decent low cost burrito that tastes like actual mexican food! As a Californian living in Edinburgh, the lack of taco trucks has been sorely disappointing, and most sit-in Mexican places charge £12+ for a burrito and they just dont get it quite right. Pinto is very similar to Chipotle, so if you are an American missing a good old fashioned burrito, Pinto is worth trying out. I end up here almost weekly.

Grabbed a late lunch here yesterday. They’ve not yet got their alcohol license yet so no chance of a beer to wash it down this time. The counter service was as speedy as you would hope for in such a fast-casual place and the prices, range & the food itself were all fine. The décor’s pretty welcoming though obviously not plush. Does Illegal Jack’s next door have anything to worry about? Probably not unless a price war starts.

Hmmmm burritos, I love burritos. Pintos make burritos with pinto beans ;) I’m in. Can’t say that I have ever heard of this chain of fast mexican food but I can say that it makes a tasty healthier style of mexican food that I’m used of. Went in the other day to grab some lunch and saw that it was slammed! I thought Pancho Villa and his gang was raiding the place! Being smart,(so I like to think) I quickly jumped in line before the drifting smells of tacos and such made it down the street and attracted more people like bees to flowers. I decided what I wanted in line opting for a healthy choice and saw that the line had indeed grew substantially. The burrito I had was not to bad. Not great but not bad. Seeing as how the gentleman who served me looked stressed I will forgive him for the amount of rice in my burrito it was a lot to say the least. I did like the grilled chicken which had good flavour. I do think they should throw some lime wedges as options and plenty of cilantro which was completely lacking. If you want to do baja style take away burritos you need at a minimum lime and cilantro and even some radishes but that’s just my opinion. Otherwise not a bad little place and I will be coming back again to try the quesadillas for they did look mucho gusto. I do encourage you if you read this to go try the place though because it is new and needs to stretch its legs and let us know on here how you found it to be. Adiós!
