Photo Express

about two weeks ago i sent my US passport away to get renewed. about a week ago i got a letter from the US embassy in london telling me the passport photos i’d sent weren’t the right size and i had 90 days to send the appropriate sized ones. in a massive panic, i frantically googled US passport photos in edinburgh and up popped Photo Express!
after a quick scan of the site i saw the photographer did US photographs, but was only open til 5pm during the week and i already had plans for saturday morning which ruled out that option. however, i called the shop up and asked if there was anyway they would stay open just after 5pm on friday so i could pop in to have my US passport photos taken. Toby (the photographer) was super nice and agreed he would leave the shop open a bit after 5 so i could get there after work.
on friday i power walked like a mad woman to get to the shop for 5pm, thankfully even a few minutes before and the shop was opened as promised. Toby was finishing up with another client so i took a seat for a few minutes while he set up the studio for my photos. as he got things ready he showed me a place to put my bags down and even the mirror complete with hairspray to fix my hair or makeup for the photo. once ready, i grabbed a seat a few minutes later he was printing my photos out as i happily paid and was on my way home.
so a great place if you’re looking for US passport photos! it’s £10 for two, but since you pretty much can’t get these anywhere else in edinburgh it’s worth paying for. it also appears that he does photos for special occasions or portaits in his studio. i’d definitely come here again if i was in need of a speciality photo!
