I understand that in these austerity times some houses are hard to sell etc. We got in touch with McEwan Fraser due to their adverts on their site ref buying your house up to 95% of the value, I understand that we would not get the best price for our property it was valued 2 weeks ago on the home report at £220 000 their offer was £150 000 !! Is this a serious offer or just a ruse to try and get us to sell our house through them.

I’d say this is the most generous 3 stars I’ve ever given — if I could have awarded 2 ½ I would.
We had no huge problems with them — they’re certainly nowhere near as bad as Grant Management — but I still have my grumbles. Essentially, they’re just another of these rental agencies that charge you loads when you first sign up, and then do the bare minimum all year long.
If things went wrong, they did get fixed eventually but only after a lot of time and hassling on our part. Also, the handyman they sent over all the time had a set of keys and just used to let himself without giving us any prior notice, which was a little weird.
Don’t get me wrong, I know loads of other students who have it much worse with their rental agencies/​landlords, but they also pay a lot less. If you find the perfect flat and then notice it’s rented by these guys, I’d still go for it, jut be prepared to spend a lot of time on the phone (although only before 4pm on a weekday!).
