I really wasn’t impressed by Librizzis when I walked up to the building, it kind of reminds me of a council building, with a neon light at the front. However, if working at Unilocal has taught me anything, its to never judge a book by its cover, so I was prepared to be wowed as soon as I walked in. We had booked a table for 4, and we were slightly late but the waiter didn’t even mention it. Our table was a good size, although the restaurant wasn’t very busy at all so I think we could have had our pick. The décor is very nice, tasteful and simple in white, black and red block colours. It felt a bit like someone’s grand dining room, which wasn’t bad at all. We ordered(after much deliberation!) and I have to say I was very, very impressed with our meal. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was absolutely fresh, which makes such a difference to your meal. Everything was prepared on site, even the deserts, which was a relief because I hate it when Italian restaurants buy in those disgusting deserts in plastic bowls. Yuck. My aubergine tower was delicious and a very interesting starter as I usually go for meat or prawns to start, so I was pleased with my choice. Stacked with mozzarella and tomato, plenty of olive oil and parmesan set off a delicious starter. My main, of scallops with pancetta and parsley was divine, I could have ate it all again! I never usually have scallops but it sounded divine! We ended our meal with a lovely creamy coffee and were left to enjoy a chat after the meal, never feeling as though we were being rushed to leave. It isn’t cheap in here, but the quality is far and above the numerous other Italian restaurants you see on every single street in the City. Delicious, I will be back without a doubt!
