The tourism industry on which Edinburgh thrives is a double edged sword; on one hand it evokes a real sense of nostalgia even amongst the Scottish visitors, but on the other hand it presents regular Edinburgh shoppers with a tartan and shortbread over-load. Jamie Scott’s Millshop is one of these type of places which line the road up to the Castle. It sells woollen goods and traditional Scottish clothing, as well as the usual See You Jimmy hats and over-sized Scotland flags you often see hanging from balconies at hotels abroad to let everyone know the Scottish have arrived. If you are a visitor, then it is a nice big shop to visit. It isn’t the cheapest, but then, nowhere up here is. Definitely a tourist haven, and not really my cup of tea.
