Iona Bar

Small bar with friendly staff which was pretty dead when we stopped in on Saturday night. Cosy though and it had a decent range of gin so not a bad pit stop.

One of the better places to go for a drink on Easter Road, the Iona Bar is located just half way down this well known street. After a recent makeover, the bar certainly looks light and fresh.
I have only been in for one drink, however the staff were friendly and very chatty — always a good pointer that it is a good bar! The bar has a limited but good selection of draught beers, including my favourite Belhaven Best, so I was quite satisfied with that!
After a wee while I got chatting to some locals who said the bar has gone under a recent make over and is a popular bar on match days with Hibernian fans! For a small pub, I would imagine this bar to be buzzing and jam packed!
It has a seating area outside for sunnier days and also serves a limited amount of meals.
A very decent bar, and very much one of the better ones on Easter Road!

This is one of my favourite pubs in Leith. They have karaōke nights, a fun quiz night (which isn’t too high brow), and there are often people booking some of the big tables for birthday parties. It all adds to a friendly local atmosphere. It used to be a little run down but was made over recently so looks fresh and pleasant. The owners Jimmy and Jackie often work there — i pick that up by the hilarious banter they have with the regular drinkers. It’s particularly busy if Hibernian are playing at home that day so perhaps best to avoid then — unless you are going to the game!
