Although this place has been closed for a few months, I would like to put a review on which I wrote a few months ago but have kept aside collecting dust. The establishment is currently on the hunt for a new premises in the city centre and I really hope that they find a new place real soon as I quite like the food. This establishment has a really nice ambiance and romantic setting. The waiters were attentive and really polite. When I spoke to them it felt as if they really enjoy what they are doing. From the restaurant name, it is obvious that seafood is its specialty. I ordered a £9 lobster ravioli but I think it was not worth it due to the price. There was only 1 piece of ravioli and the ravioli skin was a bit on the tough side. It was too small a portion for the price I paid for it. However the lobster was perfect and the ravioli was complemented in a flavourful peanutty sauce. The main course was the rainbow trout with samphire and potato purée buerre blanc at £15. This, I think it’s worth it at this price. It was quite a big piece and the fish was cooked to perfection. The flavour complements each other beautifully. No fault here. Ordered the dark chocolate and mandarin triffle for my dessert. The waiter warned me that it is not as sweet as one would hoped for but I was keen to give it a try. I have to say it’s a very adult, rich and heavy dessert. The bitterness of the dark chocolate really goes well with the mandarin oranges. The peanut brittle gave this dessert a good crunch. I thought it was really good end to a perfect meal.

Like it says on the tin, this place serves fish. With the exception of one vegetarian item, all the mains featured fish, and many of them sounded tempting. In the end I started with the lobster ravioli followed by the vegetarian main — a leek and cheese tart(which was surprisingly heavy in mashed potato content). Both dishes were good, not great, but creative enough to keep them interesting. For the price it was a very good dinner, and we’ll surely be back to try some more of the dishes. Fish Eatery has elegant casual décor, with lots of light colors and simple lines. There’s also a cozy little bar with a fireplace for pre-dinner cocktails. Service was friendly and helpful.

a suddenly rainy thursday evening had me stepping across the doorstep of Fish Eatery to meet my dinner companion for a night of seafood, wine, and catching up. i’d never been to any of the previous restaurants that inhabitated 12 Picardy Place so i wasn’t quite sure what to expect. however, on entering the cosy bar, i was warmly greeted by a waitress who kindly took my soggy coat and offered us to have a drink in the bar or to move straight onto the table. as we were both starving we headed to the table, however the bar would have been a nice place for a few drinks either pre or post dinner. there was a cosy fire and the calm grey and white tones made it a nice place to relax and chat. the restaurant continued with the chic understated grey, white, and ocean like theme with some muted fish related accents around the room. the décor really gave the place a classy feel which made it nice for a slightly more upscale dinner venue. having already contemplated the menu online we knew that we were going to share the bucket o’ fish and have a glass of wine each. the starters did look nice, but we wanted to save our appetite for the main meal. after ordering we were brought a nice basket of bread to share and then shortly after our bucket o’ fish arrived. the portion was generous even as a sharing portion. we each received a little bucket of chips and then a massive bucket full of calamari, breaded fish fingers, monkfish scampi, and cod bites. on the side was a portion of delicious mushy peas, tartare sauce, and homemade chippy sauce. my dining partner confirmed that the calamari was cooked perfectly and i can confirm that the rest of the fish was also extremely tasty. the portion though was a bit large and we struggled to finish it. the only thing i would have changed is a bit less fish and a slightly bigger portion of mushy peas because they were just that good. we decided that we had just enough room to share a dessert and decided on the treacle sponge after recommendation from our waitress. she said the portion was small but would be good for sharing. the portion appeared to be massive and we struggled to finish it. however it was very tasty and the accompanying homemade custard complemented it perfectly. the price point felt right, £18 each for a glass of wine and two courses. maybe a bit more expensive than some people might want to pay but the quality of the seafood was very good and the restaurant is aiming for smart dining. also the wait staff are super friendly and really help to make an enjoyable dining experience. overall i think this place was great! perfect for a seafood craving and i just hope that it manages to last longer than all of its predecesors.
