Time for a well-earned update I think! And yes, it’s still five stars. Since I wrote my last review there have been a couple of changes. Mondays are now at 6.50pm and Wednesdays at 6.20pm, and Saturdays have moved indoors to Fitness Soul studios(on Tennant Street in Leith) at 9am. Ouch, but yes, I forsake a lie-in every week to be there! There’s a new addition to the timetable too, namely PiYo on Tuesdays at 6pm at the Calton Centre. PiYo is from Beach Body, the same people who brought us Insanity, but it’s a low-impact workout. The name comes from the idea that it’s based on Pilates and Yoga, but not having done either of them I can’t tell you how accurate a description is. It’s fast moving, but there’s no jumping, just lots of awkward positions and boy does it make you sweat! I’m not very good at it, but there’s a new round out this week so I’m hoping I’ll start to improve! I still really enjoy Insanity too, and I can really see the difference in terms of my own ability and stamina. You work flat out, but you really do feel like you’ve had a proper work out. It’s probably not for anyone, but if you want a challenge I’d really recommend giving it a go. Boot camp is still fun, even if I do hate all the burpees! Working with equipment means it’s adding some variety to my week, as I swing kettlebells and squat with powerbags on my shoulders. My strength is definitely improving, slowly but surely. Now that there are 5 classes to go to, the £40 monthly membership is even better value for money. But even if you can only make one or two classes a week, £5 per class is still pretty decent. So give it a go, you might regret it, but only briefly ;)
