ALC has been opened awhile but I’ve never quite ventured in despite practically being on Thistle Street several times a month. It does ‘high end’ jeans and womens clothing and I always thought the clothes might be too expensive or just too skinny for me — that was a mistake! I had been following ALC on twitter and when I saw details of a sale, I had to pop in. Recently, I’ve been losing weight. My jeans were never the best fitting as I’d always compromised between waist fit and thigh fit but losing weight meant I actually felt massive in my old jeans so I’d resorted to wearing more skirts and dresses. Having grown up in jeans though, I missed denim and I had obsessed over the perfect jeans for years — trying men’s, buying jeans abroad, various high street shops, but nothing ever fitted. Although it filled me with horror, I was on the verge of going to London and booking a body scan to get fitted for the *perfect* pair of jeans, regardless of the cost… ALC however, saved me from the fate of the body scanner. Sale rail front and centre and although the skinny mini sizes are there, there are plenty of bigger sizes available too — yay! I actually broke the habit of a lifetime and bought skinny jeans which I would never have before(I have a thigh problem and losing weight and going to the gym means muscle, rather than thin thighs). Yes, these are premium denim brands — Joe’s, Paige, DL1961 plus more so you will pay but these are an investment and when you wear jeans a lot then the cost per wear becomes minimal. Adele the owner is lovely and was so helpful in judging what would best suit. I pretty much decided on the skinny jeans right away but also spent time searching for the perfect top — slightly oversized to balance out the tight fitting jeans. Lots of gorgeous non high street tops here too and the accessories, including some gorgeous jewellery could make a girl go mad. So, I’m now a premium denim convert and I do intent to spend a chunk of my salary here every so often, instead of buying a million pairs of cheaper jeans that end up at the charity shop. So Adele and the gorgous ALC, I salute you and I’m sure this will be the start of a very long lasting relationship…
