A solid, no fuss pub on the way from Leaith Walk to The Shore. No real ales but the Guinness is good and it always gives the impression that you could stay in your seat undisturbed for the whole day. One or two TVs adorn the walls so whilst keeping yourself to yourself you can keep up with whatever match is being shown or just generally enjoy the relative peace & quiet.

The bar staff and the pub was nice enough, but the swath of anti English sentiment, homophobic and sexisist comments left a bad taste. We popped in for a beer on the way home after a sunny day on the shore and realised none of us had been in this bar before. The place is nice enough and the prices are cheap — £6 for 2 pints. It was just the feeling of walking into a cowboy and western bar with the locals all turning round and making it clear you arent from these parts and definately not welcome. Hey ho you live and learn.

A great alternative to the nearby Wetherspoons pub! Must have been closed at one time perhaps then re-opened? A single lounge bar with toilets off. Nice staff. Clean toilets and lounge area. Old Leith photos and Hibs football shirts are framed on the wall. Nice safe relaxed atmosphere too.

If you were thinking of having a pint in the Foot of the Walk pub, then glance a little further down the road and choose Alan Breck Lounge instead. It’s a cosy little drinking hole is geared towards the older generation I think, and the pictures of old Leith on the walls certainly provides a talking point. There are plenty of newspapers lying on the tables and sports on the telly, and the atmosphere is relaxed with everyone having a quiet drink in their own little groups. The pints are slightly more expensive than those in Wetherspoons, but at least here you won’t come out of the toilets with an STD.
