If you want terrible after sales service, rude staff and to be made to feel like something you might tread in well shop at this store. Shocking service would never recomend.

My experienc e of this store is a pleasant one. We stayed a couple of nights in Eastbourne and went to have look round. Not bad. I have read the other reviews but cannot agree with all. This store caters for most budgets and it should be remembered that the present economic climate creates the need for bargains. These can be found here. All manner of stock can be found here and at reasonable prices.

Yes, the stores, in Eastbourne at least, are are not the smartest, and the merchandise is not generally of the highest standard. But T J Hughes does not pretend to be Selfridges or Harrods, and this is visibly evident. My experience of four of the stores visited is that there are some great bargains to be found — Farah menswear, some toiletries, and a garden swing hammock(the latter made in Britain, not China!) have been some of my best buys, and my wife found a few, too. Don’t be put off visiting these stores by some of the comments — just enjoy the experience !

Cheap rubbish. Not worth looking at, cheap though.

Thsi store is in the pedestrian precinct of the town centre, so there is no parking nearby, unles you cangrab an on-street space which you now have to pay for. It is several floors high with an escalator, stairs and a lift to cover all the main areas you would expect. It has some bargains, but as ever it depends on your size and what you like, so worth popping in quite regularly to check!

This department store is well located at the seafront end of town. It is so big you can end up spending hours in here if your not careful, epecially if you have a pushchair and have to use the lift as it is tiny, can just fit 1 pushchair an 1 other, you have to wait for ages and then it takes you to the wrong floor — every time! This shop does have a lot of cheap tat but you can also get some really good bargains if you look hard enough!

This place sucks you in by looking appealing, what happens is you get in the lift which takes you almost randomly to one of 4 or 5 floors I think, you get out, and you spend a lifetime trying to get back into it due to the high level of elderly that frequent the shop and lift, so not really suitable for a push chair. I have yet really to find much nice to say about this shop, other than it has a wide variety of stock, and someone must be buying it and keeping them in business! You can queue for a lifetime too. There is a café here and some toilets, which i dont really recommend much either. Save your money and go to Debenhams in the sale. You will thank me for it :)

I hate this store because it is such a mish mash of what is basically tat. The service is rubbish, thats if you can even find a member of staff to be served by. They have no idea about the products they sell, though i expect thats more the fault of the management for not providing adequate staff training. I’m told there are bargains to be found, but i’ve never found any myself. I’d steer clear unless you are on a particular mission and know exactly what it is you want to buy from the store.

You can get amazing bargains in this shop!!! Sets of saucepans, which are usually ridiculously expensive for £20! You can get everything in this shop! Stuff for the house is what its best for in my opinion, so if you have just moved house and are lacking kitchen stuff or cushions, get down there. But they also have clothes, sometimes OK brands, which you can pick up really cheap. Its definitely worth a look.

Sweet, nourishing BARGAINS! I was really, really impressed at the ultra cheap prices for items in this department store — Harrod’s it ain’t, but towelling robes for £6 and lead crystal glassware at under £2 a piece gives you an idea. I dare you to enter and not spend money. Needless to say, I blew almost a ton by working my way through all the levels and now have to explain to my landlord why I can’t make the rent.
