Good quality cake and scone, friendly service, nice and clean, noting out of the ordinary but exactly what one needs after a hike near by. I agree with reviews before me about price being highish, not end of the world though. :) Cake we tried the poppyseed and orange, I can highly recommend it. It had a great balance of sweet and source. The cheese scone was slightly«black peppery»

I often walk from Beachy Head to Birling Gap and back, that walk is not complete without a visit here. Good value food and drink, friendly staff, clean toilets, and great views especially if you get to sit outside, watching the sea and the boats go by. Forget what it used to be, it is worth a visit to unwind and relax if you are out walking. I have not parked there so cannot comment on the charges, it seems everywhere is charging for parking these days though!

My family have been visiting Birling Gap since the 1980’s we used to stay at Belle Tout every year when the Cullinan family owned it. To get to the beach then you had to go down by ladder. Birling Gap has certainly changed over that time from the Thatched Bar with the best juke box in town to the most recent pub. It used to be deserted in those days and I have been going down once a year since then and have been quite shocked at how it has become more and more crowded with even coach parties. You could not call the most recent pub any good it was terrible and that dreadful hotel that smelt of cabbage. Something had to change and this sounds good. If we want to park our cars in such a sensitive area then we should have to be prepared to pay for it. Why should it be free? someone has to pay and I expect it is all you locals who are complaining.

We really love this place. It’s so nice to have a destination in mind at the end of a drive out enjoying the countryside, and know that we’ll get consistently good food, service and that the place is clean, bright and friendly. There are so many really awful eating places in this area it’s great when you find a good one.

Not only have the National Trust destroyed one of the best pubs for miles around but they’ve replaced it with something useless. The café is hiddiously expensive and has ridiculous opening times. And what’s the point in a bar which shuts at 5pm?! This was a charming, lovely old place with a great pub community, good food and a fun games room and now the people who are meant to be protecting our heritage have destroyed all of it. And their starting to charge for parking if you just want to go to the beach or have a walk: O
