Hands up anyone who knows about fishing? What are you looking at me for? Ok, I don’t know much, I mean anything, about fishing, but I do know that this area is a fisher-​mans dream. Let me explain. About 5 minutes walk from this shop is our patch of the river Thames. I was talking to the owner of Fishing Unlimited the other day and he told me these surprising facts — there are over 150 different species of fish in the Thames; about half a mile up the road there was a record amount of salmon found recently. What is even more pleasing to hear is that the Thames is getting cleaner every day thanks to the heavy environmental work that is being done to it.
So — you are looking at a place that is perfect for fishing — it is free, whats more, and you have this perfect shop around the corner to cater for your every fishing need! The shop is huge. It used to be the old post office about 20 years ago. Now it is filled to the ceiling with fishing paraphernalia — tackle, bait — more bait then you will ever imagine seeing — reels, fishing clothing etc. And the owner really knows his onions. I mean fish. He can help even the most clueless novice. Like me! I’m off to go see that salmon.
