Based on earlier reviews, I wouldn’t have chosen to eat here. But the food did not disappoint and the wine was lovely. We started with the calamari… It was lightly breaded and flash fried… So it was not heavy or greasy. We had the Sybarita rustica pizza. The pepperoni was spicy and the sauce was yummy. The atmosphere was pleasant… quiet enough to hold a conversation but lively enough to feel vibrant. The prices were good too. All around a good experience!

Eh. With the few decent Italian places in Durham(Bistro Italiano, Cappricio) this place doesnt really make the cut. While the service was friendly enough we were left to sit for over 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, then another loooong wait for drinks. When you need a prosecco, you need a prosecco… and you dont want to wait. Same thing happened when we looked to get another glass. It got a bit irritating. So, the waiting might have been forgiven if the food was stellar, but it wasnt. Its not bad, but its not great. Its just that sort of food that you shrug and think, «OK». For the price I felt the portions were a bit small and there didnt really seem to be any love put into it. The building and atmosphere are very nice, but this isnt the sort of place I see myself looking to return to anytime soon.
