Nice local battalion museum. Covering the history of the DLI from the Boer War to present day. A few hands on exhibits ie, guns, a jeep & small troop carrier. Worth a visit if in Durham & you have a military interest. Free car park close by & couple of pounds entrance fee. A café is also available. Full disabled access as you might expect.

Have visited often with kids. Always interesting-some hands-on exhibits(for example the Terry Deary world war one exhibit with tunnel) and a Jeep. You can also hold some of the rifles and try on a couple of helmets. On the top floor there is an art gallery with a constantly-changing variety of exhibitions. The café has very pleasant views over the ornamental lake in front and there is also country walking nearby.

This museum is located a few minutes away frm the centre of Durham near County Hall. Hidden behind the road leading to the Arnison Centre it almost feels as if you’re miles away from the city! I found it really interesting and it’s great to learn about the history of the area we live in. Highly recommended Everyone who works there was very friendly an knowledgeable. I asked lots of questions, and they had an answer for ever one! They also cater for visits from schools, which I think is great, it’s nice to see kids learning about their city!

Very interesting place loads to see and it is an interesting part of history. It has friendly staff as well, the entry price is very reasonable with a free car park. They have a gift shop which is a bit pricey but has some nice items in. Highly recommended!
