Amazing cinema. Screens 3 and 4 are currently being built and open in December 2010. The foyer has recently been completley revamped, with new ticketing and till systems. Same freindly staff. Biggest screen in Dorset in screen 2. Screens3 and 4 wont be too far behind. Screen 1 is the cute small screen that less popular films are screened in usually. Digital Sound and air conditioning will be coming to screen 1 soon. 3D will also be installed in screens 3 and 4, but it will be 35 mm 3D to start with. Menaing the cinema will then have ¾ 3D screens. With 2 different 3D systems — Xpand Digital 3D, and a 35 mm 3D system(probably Technicolour). Great cinema, great prices, great staff and massive improvements currently taking place. 4 screens and more tehnically is a multiplex, so this cinema will be a 4 screen multiplex from December 2010!!!

I like the Plaza and visit regularly. The main screen is big, but I think it is incorrect to say The Plaza has the largest screen in Dorset. I am sure it is the ABC Bournemouth(Screen 1). Although digital projection was introduced a few years ago Technically both screens have picture and sound problems. I recently saw Alice in Wonderland 3d. I have to ask the question has a silver screen been installed? is the light from the projector bright enough to compensate for the picture getting darker when you put 3d glasses on. Sound channel seperation is poor especially in the small screen. The lack of screen masking that fits detracts from the picture. However dont let this put you off the Plaza is well worth a visit staff are great chairs are good and ticket prices offer exceptional value for money. Prices at the kiosk for confetionary is also good value for money.

The largest screen in Dorset and perhaps the smallest, this is an old cinema that has had it seats replace with modern comfy chairs. The team are friendly and knowledgeable, they to really like working here and care about the Plaza. And a cheep night out £2.50 week days and £3.50 at weekends.
