Wind your way down increasingly tiny lanes, past a church standing in a field of orchids in May and an extraordinary battlemented ex vicarage, and you come into the farmyard, with the tiny farm shop in an outbuilding on your right. The shop sells home-grown salads, vegetables and eggs in season, augmented by bought-in Riverford produce. There are many kinds of delicious but rather pricey locally-baked bread, milk, cream and butter and the most wonderfully rich almond croissants — no one could eat a whole one on their own!
