The Shakespeare Inn & Restaurant

Been here a few times and i found it too be of excellent quality with exceptional staff, quality food and ale. superb garden for summertime and very welcoming atmosphere. top marks all round for this establishment. excellent landlord and landlady.

We have eaten at the Shakespear on a regular basis for a number of years. we eat out regularly and have always returned to the shakespear for the quality homecooked food and value for money. Unfortunately following a recent visit I have reason to change my view and will not be eating there any longer. The prices are creeping up and the quality of some of the food is going down. More importantly the new owners are introducing cheaper bought in pies etc which, if my concerns about this had been dealt with appropriately, I might have continued to eat there for a while longer to see whether things improved. If you eat there I would suggest you check that the food you are ordering is homemade. Good luck to the new owners, they will need it, as they have got a lot to learn about quality food & customer relations.

Last week we held a party meal here in the restuarant for 21 guests, agood time was had by all, The meal choice was excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff were great in both the kiitchen and at table, we all ate heartily together and enjoyed every morsel — well reccommended for its ambience and quality of food –will do this again –not forgetting the bar staff who also worked hard bless em. Thank you Martin and Sharon for a birthday to remember —

Visited recently, hadn’t been for a while. Its certainly looking up. There were 4 ales on offer, particularly impressed by the BG Tips. We had a meal in the bar as the restaurant area was closed that night. Very good pub grub. The owner seemed friendly and I hope they can make a good job of it.

This is a fantastic Pub/​restaurant, the food is fantastic it shocks me to read these other reviews, maybe these reviews were about the old owners.
I come here most weekends and i will continue to do so.

Dispite its beautful location, The Shakespeare Inn is out dated and dingy. The bar meals are poor, ordered fish and chips, but was very disapointed. For a pub which boasts homemade food i was surprised to find that the food did not taste fresh and lacked any taste. Will not be coming back again!

Parked in the car park today to go to my daughters christening. It was before the pub opened so we thought we would go to the christening then afterwards go here (Shakespeare inn shardlow) for Sunday lunch, on getting out of our car me my fiancée and 2 kids. The male pub owner was in the garden and shouted over at us at the top of his voice oii!!! this is not a public car park you know we pointed out we was coming for dinner here after church but he never offered an apology and just shrugged his shoulders, shocked by his action we got back into the car and parked it on the road outside the pub!, after the service we went for dinner somewhere else after being unhappy with the way we had been spoken to, needless to say had we tried the food and if it was good we would of gone back now we will never ever know and will defiantly never even nip in for a pint which is a shame as we only live 2 miles away and is the only pub we have not tried for meals in shardlow

A warm friendly pub with a restaurant. A good selection of beers Bass and Pedigree as standard with ²⁄₃ guest beers most of the time. I’ve not tried the food myself but the reports are that it is good. I’ve had lunch here a few times recently (Autumn/​Winter 2011) and have really enjoyed the experience. The food is good, the service friendly and the beer selection has yet to disappoint.
