I wish I could clone Jack Sprat’s and bring it back to Scotland. The café is beautifully appointed with lots of attention to detail and nice personal touches, and the food is terrific. We opted for brunches all around and did not regret it for a minute. Our only regret is that we are rarely in that part of the world. We ended up in Dawlish purely by chance but if I ever pass through the town again Jack Sprat’s will be my first port of call. Plenty of metered parking nearby and all around The Lawn. Lovely looking menu for later in the day too, and I spotted a xmas menu at the door. Highly recommended!

First place we spotted that wasn’t an Inn or cheapo take-away joint — great looking menu and friendly staff. Had the blue cheese beef burger which was delish, first time in a while I’ve been asked how I want my burger cooked too(not sure if that’s the norm in the UK?). Massive burger, crispy toasted bun(I personally prefer soft bun but oh well) Finished with the chocolate truffle cake for dessert; not too sweet, nice and rich dark chocolate. All very affordable in my opinion, and as mention earlier wait staff were very friendly and easy going. We went on a Saturday night so naturally got busy from 7ish, book ahead Was going to rate 4 stars but honestly can’t think of anything I was dissatisfied with(maybe I’m easy pleased!) — and considering the style of place(ie: café restaurant) I think 5⁄5 is deserved
