The Old Chapel

I would feel a slight betrayal giving a Wetherspoons a 4 star rating and even though a 3 would be slightly underwhelming as this place is good at what it does, 3 is what it gets!
The good points: for one it’s bloody massive and you could fit a small army of friends in here. Secondly it has a nice atmosphere on a Friday night, not too busy or too much of the same crowd — a nice mix of families having a drink after dinner and groups of friends starting of their nights!
There was a huge upstairs area that would be perfect for hosting a private party or event.
Now, the one big negative: it’s a massive chain, so the beer options are drastically limited and even though I enjoy the solid taste of big brands — to be a 4 star pub you need choice!
If you’re in the area, definitely worth as visit and probably as good as you get in Darwen!
