The Tollgate

One of the newer places in Dartford. It’s trying to imitate that cooler cosmopolitan vibe of London. A noble venture to be sure.
A good place to start off a night in Dartford, attracting a younger and funkier crowd before they move off to Air & Breathe or Crush. It’s deceptively large being long and narrow with dark blue décor and wooden floors rather than wide and massively spacious thereby still retaining a somewhat intimate atmosphere.
At the front are the usual high tables and stools but towards the back are funky booths with leather seats for either bigger groups or more intimate ventures. Music plays from the wonder that is Sky television but gets annoying when an ad comes on. The more of you the better in my opinion to drown it out.
London comes to Dartford? Close but no cigar.

The Tollgate pub is in the centre of Dartford and seems to me to be a sports pub. The interior is large and airy with modern furniture. It can get very crowded when sporting events are on as they are shown on screens around the pub.
I wouldn’t say there is a particularly welcoming atmosphere in here, unless you like sport, when there is a fixture on in here things can get a little rowdy. The bar staff never seem to be especially friendly.
Prices of drinks are reasonable, and the menu is fairly cheap too, nothing outstanding but very edible and good value for money — it seems very similar in style to the Wetherspoons menu across the road. Speed of service is ok apart from when the pub is packed out with people watching football, again nothing outstanding but you get what you pay for.

The Tollgate pub is a Weatherspoon pub in Dartford. This pub is always very busy but you can easily get a seat on most days. At night it is a little hard to find a seat. The food served here is cheap but of good quality. I have never had to wait longer than ¹⁰⁄₁₅ minutes for my dinner or lunch to be served. The staff have always been friendly and have interacted well with my children during the day. There is a good atmsophere in this pub. The queues in the evening are big but you get served quickly.
