It’s been more than 20 years since I last set foot in a Harvester and it was with some trepidation I braved the smell of old chip fat in the car park and took the plunge. It has to be said that Dartford on a Sunday lacks choice in eateries; but if your budget is low and your expectations are in accord then you can’t go wrong. The early bird special left us full to the brim. The food is plain and unsophisticated but does absolutely what it says on the tin.

The Rising Sun is a harvester pub, so you always know what to expect. The food here is as good as in any Harvester and the staff are friendly and efficient, even when it is very busy.
There is a discounted menu to choose from if you order before 6.30pm and the children’s menu is more or less the same as the adults with smaller portions.
The main problem is when it is busy, it is very difficult to park and this can be frustrating.
All in all this is a good place to go for dinner if you don’t fancy cooking and don’t want to spend a fortune.
