The Swan

Hmm, where to start…
…I guess I could start by pointing out that no one local calls The Swan by its proper name. It is known locally as «Jaspers». I don’t know why.
Jaspers is the starting point for many a «crap town pub crawl». It epitomises the genre of pub I affectionately refer to as «bit of a crap hole». I rarely swear, but I’ve used the less offensive c-​word twice already in this review. So you should be aware by now that this place is more than a bit pants.
I just asked my husband for a slightly nicer way to describe the interior and he has come up with «spit and sawdust». Though I’d say there’s more spit than any actual woodshavings.
A redeeming feature is that they serve Holden’s ales, yet the rest of the bar is pretty bog standard stuff. The names of the weekly DJs and entertainers displayed on the boards outside are always quite funny.
