This is a great little cheerful greasy spoon café in Old Hill. The frontage is bright yellow and red. The interior is slightly less fun — beige walls and dull melamine tables. But you don’t go to Hadley’s to be wowed by the décor. You go to eat a huge full English breakfast, served with a steaming mug of tea. The tea tends to have a reassuring film of grease floating on the surface, which bodes well for the food. The breakfasts are delicious and the service is speedy. You order at the counter, take a seat(upholstered in standard greasy spoon PVC) and await your food. There’s normally a copy of the Mirror or Sun knocking about if you get bored. I also quite enjoy listening in to the conversations on neighbouring tables. The place is small, so it is hard not to! Last time there were two really hungover guys reliving the night before, pausing occasionally to bury their heads in their hands. It sounded like they’d had a great time. I love going to Hadley’s during the winter, when the windows steam up and you can see blurry outlines of shoppers scurrying past.
