I have been watching some old reviews by fellow Qypers and checking if the recommendation is still relevant and the place stared is operational and trading. I have also sent an email or P D F form to see if they reply.

The pub is understandably popular & we struggled to find a table for our party — so would recommend booking. Although it took a while to get served the food was good and worth the wait. There was a real lively, warm feel to the place we will be going back and will make sure we reserve next time.

We’ve eaten here twice recently: once when it was relatively quiet, once during a peak period. On both occasions the service was excellent, as was the food itself. Definitely high-end for a pub, and comparable with any well-rated restaurant. They allow dogs into the bar so you can eat without sitting outside. Normally two or three real ales on tap. I’ve knocked off one star(perhaps unfairly) as the comfy chairs are a little low when eating at the high tables, and high when eating off the coffee-tables.

This is a great place to eat, always really busy and a great atmosphere. Sometimes service is a little slow. Specials sell out quickly which is annoying as they are often sold out around 2 ish and they don’t have the special of the day in the evening. Overall would give 8⁄10

Lovely pub. Friendly service, nice décor, and a welcoming, cosy ambience. The food is quite good too. Much nicer than the kingswood arms up the road.

This is a lovely pub for a Sunday lunch… If you’re not in a hurry. The food here is tasty(if not slightly overpriced for what it is) but the slow service really ruins it. I’ve been here a few times regularly, each time convincing myself that the slow service was a one-off. Unfortunately it isn’t. A real shame as it sits in a nice location and is great for an after food walk if you like that sort of thing.

I’m sort of reluctant to say too much about the Ramblers Rest in case it causes a rush to try it’s gorgeous ambience, delicious food and drink and the location isn’t bad either. It’s been given a much needed face lift, bringing it into the 21st Century and the same goes for the quality of the menu. As soon as you step foot through the door, you feel welcome — the staff are sociable and give the feeling that they like working there. The décor is contemporary without feeling stark — in fact it feels extremely comfortable both in the main bar area and the restaurant. Great lounging chairs and cosy corners compliment the muted tones and wooden floors. This isn’t a ‘spit and sawdust’ kinda joint, but it doesn’t turn it’s nose up at the punters either. The food as I mentioned before is just delicious. Great flavours, not too much to choose from but a perfect balance of everything to suit everyone. Who could ask for more? And when it came to paying the bill, I felt that I’d got value for money and service that was offered. So please — for my sake, don’t rush there too quickly. It’s our little secret OK

The Ramblers has great potential — it’s a 13th century building on the edge of some really nice woods and it has a great garden. However, it’s really gone downhill recently — the food is very average and the whole place seems to be staffed by high school kids who haven’t really been trained that well. A few years ago this place used to be really great — especially the service — but times have changed. What a shame!
