This is exactly what I am looking for in a pub. Cozy rooms, great beer, excellent food, and a spectacular view of the valley.

Quick glance: + breathtakingly gorgeous view from a pub + large portion pub grub + good selection of ales and cider I came here on the recommendation of a guide book(yup, I’m a bit old school sometimes!) and I was very pleased to have found the pub. The food is not spectacular; good, hearty pub grub well prepared and comes in big portion. The attraction is the view of the Wiltshire countryside you can admire, as you tuck into your fish and chip, washed down with a pint of local ale or cider. It’s absolutely gorgeous on a sunny day, but the pub also has a large window so you can sit inside and still admire the view; just make sure you call ahead and see if you can book the table next to the window.

Out in the sticks and perched on the side of a valley offering some fabulous views towards bath. A great pub offering quality beers with an eccletic mix of good standard fare. The menu offers a wide variety of food along with some great British classics. I love the maps on the walls showing a history of the Corsham tunnels below you and if you talk to the bar staff nicely they can point you in the direction of the nearest entrance(not very far away!) I have heard from many of my friends who also visit on a regular basis that it can get very busy(perhaps i go at the wrong but right time :) and getting a table without book can be problamatic.

I love this place. A country pub thats not afraid to stay ‘pub’, instead of going posh. The pub is very welcoming. You come in, bar in front, a snug to your right, and to the left a lovely eating area with probably the best views in the county. Food is great. I’m a vegetarian and enjoyed a stilton/asparagus pancake(£8.50 as a main). My friend had a tasty wild mushroom quiche. My partner eats fish and had loads of dishes to choose from. Service was very pleasant. Great overall. And lovely area to go walking; either to build up an appetite, or to walk the fish and chips off. As it is a bit out of the way, you should be pleased to know there is plenty of parking as well.

You would probably never come across this gem, unless you felt like going for a walk in Box. We did so on our way home from Bristol heading to London. This was the perfect end to a lovely trip, with a brilliant view of the sunset across the Wiltshire hills. The pub was very busy with what seemed a healthy mix of locals and tourists(hmmm, there must be holidayhomes nearby). If you’re veggie, the choice is quite limited, but said sunset more than makes up for it.
