Potentially the most beautiful place I’ve been in the UK thus far. Symonds Yat is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and you truly feel like you’ve stepped back in time whilst you’re wandering down its serene riverbanks. I went here for a weekend away from London, and I left rejuvenated and full of admiration for England’s countryside. We stayed in one the lodges right on the riverside in Symonds Yat East, and on the Sunday morning we took a 6 mile walk into Monmouth in Wales. I already want to go back.

Located on the A449 trunk road between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth are the three outstanding beauty spots & tourist attractions of Symonds Yat West, Symonds Yat East and Yat Rock, and are all world-famous for their spectacular year-round scenery. Perfect for families and people of all ages, there is loads to see & do here, from a range of leisurely pursuits to the more adventurous activities of rock-climbing & canoeing etc. There is a visitor centre & heritage centre and the amazing Hedge Puzzle, which can all be found at Symonds Yat West, while at Symonds Yat East is the unusual man-powered Rope Ferry, and the opportunity to take river-boat trips. There also an amusement park here. Yak Rock is especially beautiful, with its magnificent viewpoint from where you can see the outstanding natural beauty of the 5 mile long, winding River Wye in the heavily-wooded gorge some 500ft below. In the summer months you will be able to spot Peregrine Falcons flying to and from their nesting places on the hillside around Yat Rock. From this area you can also take a trip to visit Goodrich Castle and Tintern Abbey, or the Butterfly Centre which are all close by. These are just a few of the sights & activities you will find here in this amazing part of the Wye Valley, where fun & enjoyment can be guaranteed for the young and old alike. certainly a place you will want to visit again & again!
