Outstanding food and good service. enjoyed a late Saturday lunch. The caramelised onion and cheese garlic bread was lovely. Same with most of the other stuff we ate. The coffee was very good too

— gorgeous 400 year old, timber framed café/restaurant in the historic town of Colchester — the family run restaurant offers a comprehensive, value for money menu with many traditional favourites — service is very friendly — attention: opening hours: not opened in the evenings! — cottage pie(5.85GBP) and pie of the day(with chicken and a yummy puff pastry top hat; 5.95GBP) all very tasty; real good home made English food Conclusion: If you visit Colchester go to Timers for breakfast(we did not try) or real good traditional English food.

On our very first visit to lovely Colchester we needed a place for lunch as the tummies were starting to grumble. I think I’ve got a nose for sniffing out a good ‘un and we were lucky once more. Timbers is a cosy restaurant/café with simply the friendliest staff you’re likely to meet. The welcome was genuine and we watched as group after group arrived, was welcomed; and left with smiles on their faces. The menu is pretty extensive, portions are generous and the prices were extremely reasonable but I’m figuring that it was the service which made it memorable. If ever in Colchester seek out Timbers. You’ll not be disappointed.

A cozy but spacious enough traditional café restaurant in the middle of Colchester, serving really nice traditional food but with waitress service, great coffees and amazing flavours of hot chocolate, flavoured teas and always with a smile. We go there so regular now(every weekend almost) that we feel like we’ve almost their friends in there. Prices are dead reasonable, foods a really good quality with nice extra touches and the building is steeped in history(and timbers beams). Give it a try, they deserve it!
