Had a great meal here with my mother and Mrs The service was really friendly we were served and seated quickly and immediately served with drinks. I had the special of Gurnard over roasted vhaegetables in beautiful sauce. This was actually a memorable dish as it was so good, that good in fact that I asked the waitress to compliment the chef. My mother had the fish and chips special which was very cheap at only about £6 and she said she enjoyed it and to be honest I can’t remember what my wife had. The drinks were cheap for a restaurant at only about £3.20 for a pint of cider and £14 for a nice fruity house wine. There was actually about seven whites to chose from under £20 a bottle which was good. I would definitely go again, the décor was may be a bit too fussy as it was full of pictures of old Grimsby trawlers and could have been simplified and made more chic like Figs and Riverside also on the Seafront. Bit disappointed that there wasn’t any mussels on the menu either during the day or night as this is my favourite seafood. The whole meal a bottle of wine and two ciders came in under £50 which was really good value and I would recommend anyone to make a trip there.

This was the first time me and my partner visited The Captain’s Table. The smallish interior is bright, modern and minimalist, but still cosy. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, but not formal or intrusive. We both started with scallops which were beautifully presented and cooked to perfection as was my red fish main course. My partner was disappointed with her fish pie main course. I had a taste and thought it very bland with little fish and lots of potato. She isn’t a chef and cooks far better fish pie than this! We finished with crème brulle which was absolutely delicious. We’d definitely go again but we’d give the fish pie a very wide berth! They now due a lunchtime offer of fish(line caught cod or haddock) for under £6.00! We tried it and the quality was fantastic! A home made bread roll and mint were included. The staff were as friendly and helpful as ever. Brilliant!
