WH Smith is situated within the pedestrian zone facing the flat iron market. It is actually quite a small store and can get quite busy. The layout of this store is clumsy there are two entrance doors at the front of the shop between which is the cash desk. At busy times this leads to a lot of congestion as people queueing to pay are constantly having to move to make way for more customers entering the shop. There is a decent range of books within the store, a small selection of dvd’s and games, and cards and stationery. You are able to order any books you would like and smiths will get them in for you which is a useful service. Although the shop is accessible for wheelchairs if there are more than a few customers in store don’t bother going in as you will not be able to navigate around the store with any ease. Some good offers on best selling books.

Situated on New Market st opposite the Chorley undercover market. There is a seletion of books, cards and stationary available as well as a small selection of DVD’S. There is a paper stand and a small drinks fridge to the right of the door. Not the largest branch, but the staff are accomodating and will order any books not in stock. The store is quite cramped at times and if i were in a wheelchair or pushing a pram around, i would find it quite difficult on busy days. They would also benefit from adding extra tills as there is one at the back and two at the front, queues tend to go down the aisles which only adds to problems of getting around the shop.
