Another Mr. Snarky choice, although he didn’t really enjoy it as much as I did. Parking is a bit tricky, but we found a spot on a side street. Walking in, it almost had that rustic Italian feeling, although when we were finally seated(took quite awhile since one staff member was taking orders from a large group and one staff member was in the kitchen with the chef) we noticed that the table cloth was… well it felt like a worn upholstery cover. Actually I think they should go without the table cloth as the tables underneath look quite nice. Anyway… we had two menus, not really sure what the difference was and the staff didn’t really explain it. If you are looking for wifi, the password is on the menu, so you don’t even have to ask. It was again… quite a long time before someone came to take our drink order and that was when I had the chance to ask what the soup of the day was(Broccoli and Cauliflower). That was also when we received some bread and butter to munch on while we were waiting. For starters we ordered the soup and the Spanish Mezze(Patatas Bravas, Ham Croquette, and some Spanish Meats and Cheeses). Considering what we ordered, it took quite a long time to get the starters. So this is where I have to say, the star rating mainly suffered because of the long wait time. There was a large group in so I was trying to be understanding, but I guess if they had booked ahead that more staff would have been brought in to help out. Mr. Snarky said that he wondered if there were more staff and was worried about what the place would be like if it were really busy. The soup was nice, minus the large bits of parsley(I don’t like parsley) in the soup. It did not come with croutons as it had mentioned on the menu, which was fine, although a piece of bread would have been great(we had eaten all of the other bread because it took so long to get our starters). Mr. Snarky’s Spanish Mezze looked good and he seemed to enjoy it, but by the way he was eating, I could tell he was very hungry… bordering hangry really. Again, it took a very long time to get our mains(Pork Loin and Lamb). The staff didn’t stop at the table to make sure that we were fine for drinks while we waited, so it kind of felt like we had been forgotten about. Eventually, my main and veg came out, but Mr. Snarky’s Lamb had not come out. The waitress said it would be out shortly and then disappeared. A few minutes later, the lamb came out, but it kind of look slapped together. I enjoyed my dish, the pork was tender and the pancetta sauce was nice, although a bit on the salty side. And the veg was nice too… carrots, cabbage, new potatoes, and a few roasted potatoes. The roasted potatoes were wonderful… I need a lesson! Mr. Snarky did not think his food was worth the wait. He said the lamb was ok and the potatoes were ok, but possibly undercooked a bit. We didn’t see the staff for awhile, I think they were in the kitchen and it was getting late and we wanted our bill. I had seen two other tables pay at the counter, so that’s what we did. One of the staff was washing dishes and the other one looked like she was trying to figure out the tickets. The staff member did apologize to us and even said, «I hope you aren’t skipping dessert because of the wait.» Unfortunately, besides being full, yes, we didn’t really want to wait any longer. They do have a loyalty card where you can bring in your own wine(only wine, no liquor) to enjoy with your meal. I think there are other perks, but I can’t remember what they are. You can apply for your card at the table as there are handouts at all the tables. It is a shame, because I quite liked my food and I think there is quite a bit of potential, but the wait time and lack of staff really let them down. If you get the chance, you should stop in, but if there is a huge group, I would turn around and find another restaurant.
