Lovely meals especially the Jacket potatoes, not that pricey either.
Quite busy but always enough spaces to sit, nice car park, nicely situated in a quiet area of Newbold, and nice outside seating.

Basic microwave food. Will keep you alive but that’s about it

A number of people have warned me about British hotels, suggesting that most of them are cramped and dingy affairs. That is absolutely NOT what I encountered at the Olde House, which was just as nice as any full service hotel where I’ve stayed in the States.
Warm welcome at the registration desk (which is a small corner of one of the bars in the pub area), I was checked in immediately. There are only a dozen or so rooms in the hotel, on two floors. My room (02) was right next to the stairs, but it was surprisingly quiet. Queen size bed with a work desk, an armoire and pull-​out sofa, there was also a flat screen TV (that I never turned on) and free wi-​fi that worked very well. En suite bathroom had a good size tub and a very hot towel warmer.
A complete bargain, I found it somewhere on the Internet for £50 a night. And when my work in Chesterfield finished ahead of plan, there was no penalty for checking out one day early.
As for the food, the breakfast is included with the stay. A few juices and cereals are in the breakfast area, and they will also make a breakfast to order. Choose the usuals from the menu (eggs any style, bacon or sausage, white or brown toast, baked beans, tomatoes and mushrooms) and it’s prepared to order and brought to your table, usually by the time you’ve finished your first cup of French press coffee. Dinner time offers a full menu with a handful of interesting specials (Goat cheese and chicken bake, Chicken Jambalaya, Curry, etc.). My «bangers and mash» was top notch. They have a diverse selection of more than 10 beers on tap plus bottled beers and other soft drinks.
A very good value, both for the room and the meals. I would absolutely stay here again. I’m not sure why I haven’t rated five stars. It was good, but my socks weren’t quite knocked off.

quite a nice bar this, does tend to get a few chesterfield poses in through the week nights, especially if the weathers good. they all like to stand and admire their cars. good bar though.
