This is your typical Thai restaurant of the full-on Thai décor style. We were lured in by lots of green and gold, elaborate pagodas and screens. It’s deceptively large– from the front it looks small, but the restaurant goes far back so we were able to get a table at the last minute, despite there being a few people there already. Service was extremely friendly, food was reasonably priced and portions very generous. My hot curry was definitely hot(!). We tried the Thai wine, which was the house wine as there’s a first time for everything, although I think I’d’ve preferred something more substantial to go with the meal, it was still nice. Seriously though, the décor is just amazing– we were sitting next to a huge wooden structure with further seating on a low mezzanine style level. I’d come back just to sit somewhere else and look at it from a different angle. There are huge wooden carvings on the wall, a koi pond, and the bar even has its own roof.

I love this restaurant. The food quality is phenomenal and the service is excellent. I have visited several times but always in the evenings and I would say that it is on the pricey side when ordering from the normal evening menu. You do get what you pay for however and I feel that the price reflects the quality. The inside is very ornately decorated and is not my usual taste but I actually really like it. It feels very authentic and gives a really nice Thai vibe. Well worth a try.

The food here is delicious! I’ve only eaten here twice so far but I plan to come many more times. Definitely on par with my favorite Thai restaurants in Manhattan. My former neighborhood in NYC had about 50 Thai eateries within 30 blocks, so when my partner took me to Thai Emerald, I could tell it was authentic and freshly prepared. Overall it was very tasty.

Outstanding food, fantastic service. Love the decoration, they’ve made an ornate, wood-carved feature of just about everything — makes the whole experience unforgettable.

Overall this place was a good experience. The three us thought our dishes were good. I thought the massaman curry could have had more spice. The food is served in amusing pottery like bowls shaped like chicken and boats. The décor is amazing with lots of ornate woodwork. Service was great.

After hearing many good reviews I was fairly disapointed by the emerald. Very busy and tables close together, staff friendly but rushed. Food was good, but not exceptional, décor good and food presented very well overall I think it’s overpriced for what it is.

An incredible Thai restaurant with authentic food and authentic surroundings. Not the cheapest but it’s easy to see why when things are this well done. Also offers a takeaway service. The entrance to the restaurant is dominated by an indoor waterfall into a pool with live fish(none of which you may eat, to my knowledge) and throughout, the restaurant is adorned with exquisite carvings and artwork. For example, the tables are covered with a sheet of glass, but beneath this there are carved wooden reliefs. Even the chairs have detailed carvings. Towards the rear are two enormous wooden elephants. The food is excellent with a wide selection and good English explanation of dishes. The starter platter is highly recommended because it allows a taster of a good range of starters and is decorated with some of the most beautiful carved vegetables I have ever seen. There is a whole dessert trolley on offer, but the emphasis is on the wacky rather than the authentic here. It is well worth trying the strange mousse with chopped up bits of Crunchie bar thrown into it. The waiting staff are very friendly and accommodating, being very obviously from the same part of the world as the food, and wearing beautiful traditional clothing. The price is not cheap but neither is it extortionate, and it is very reasonable given the quality of food(and experience) that is being served here. Unfortunately the toilets are a little awkward, being downstairs and quite cramped. Also, due to the extremely solid nature of the chairs and their balance, it’s not generally a good idea to hang coats or bags on the back of them, because they will tip over when standing up, and this is extremely loud(and potentially embarrassing)! There are few Thai restaurants that offer such an attention to detail and a genuine passion for the food they are serving. Highly recommended as a Thai restaurant, and still well worth a look even if you wouldn’t normally consider this kind of food.

Used to go here a lot when I was studying in Cheltenham. Loved everything here. Went back last summer when my friends and I were visiting, a lot have changed in Chelt(I still can’t believe That Mexican Place closed!) but this place has only continued to prove my memories right! The more I travel and go to Thai restaurants the more I can say this — Very authentic food, décor, people. I suggest going with a larger group of friends as this place may get a little quiet at random hours, and it might feel a little awkward to be the only four people in a relatively big restaurant. They also have a section cut out for more private tables if you like to be away from the dining room with big decors.

Very reasonably priced Thai food. Inside the restaurant, it is elaborately decorated, and the staff are excessively friendly. They also offer takeout as well. Their curries are spicy and delicately flavoured, and their sticky rice is just to die for. It’s just a shame I live in Tewkesbury because it’s too far for a regular takeaway, but it’s worth the drive.

Excellent value all-you-can eat lunchtime buffet. Range of several starters, three or four meat curries and a couple of vegetarian dishes, salads, veg and lovely desserts. Great for group lunches, work dos and the like.

Brilliant Thai restaurant. All you can eat buffet at lunchtime with numerous starters, meat and vegetable curries arranged in order of heat, and great puddings. Service is very polite rather than friendly, but good and efficient.
