Really worth a visit. We found El Chigre about 18 months ago and very soon became regulars. Jose and his family make everyone welcome and the food is great, with specials every day. Really good selection of proper Spanish beers. We normally pop in midweek, but tried last Friday night and the atmosphere was brilliant. The family deserve to do well. John and Maureen B.

So I’m in Chelmsford on a lark, visiting a friend an walking down the street when El Chigre jumps out. So completely unexpected this place jumped out amidst chippys and chains. Friday night and no booking but they found me a place at the bar, grabbed me an Alhambra, and started me through some great dishes. Patatas bravas were nice and spicy. All reasonably priced.
