Got your usual branded crowd pleasers on the Pint front and 3 guest ales. I say guest ales they’re not unknowns you’ll recognise them as staple ales so not mind blowers but not dissapointers either. There is alot of room but sat eve as you expect it’s packed, but! moveable so no long queues at the bar good to see decent bar staff keeping the bar flowing etc. Prices good 2.80 for most pints. Atmosphere difficult to judge sat nights are live music so it feels lively unsure how it feels other nights. Considering it’s reasonable distance from where I live will have to inhabit this place more often… For Unilocal Research purposes obviously…

Very spacious bar with restaurant separate enough to hear conversations on a busy Friday night. We stopped in for a late dinner where my husband experienced his first carvery(looked delicious) and I had the fish & chips which was cooked perfectly. Best fried fish I’ve had to date! Although I was a little surprised to be offered heinz tartar. Also with my meal came a side of mushy peas, which was tasty, but served in a dipping style cup which was confusing and almost impossible to get at with a fork. Even now I’m wondering, was it a dip? They had the consistency of thick pea soup but getting it onto a chip was also a difficult task. Not to be out maneuvered by the container, I did manage to eat most of it, but now I can’t help but think… Did I essentially eat a cup of mustard as a side dish? What is the meaning of the mushy peas?!? Definitely a place I would visit again given the chance.

The Hesketh is a great pub and restaurant. The décor is slightly ‘oldy worldy’ It is a great looking pub from the outside and fairly spacious once inside. There are plenty of tables and friendly staff. The bar is obviously used by regulars, but they are friendly and you are not given the impression that you are not wanted there. The best thing about the Hesketh is the food on a Sunday! I have only ever visited on a Sunday so I’m not sure what food they do on other days of the week, but on a Sunday you will find a carvery restaurant. There is usually a choice of about four different meats, and if you like your welcome to have a slice of each! You then serve yourself with vegetables and potatoes. The food is of a great quality and it is always hot and very tasty! The price for a Sunday carvery is around £8-£9 each. The pub/restaurant itself is lovely to sit in, especially in the winter with the fires going.

The Hesketh is a great pub and restaurant. The décor is slightly ‘oldy’ but very nice at the same time. It is a great looking pub from the outside and once in there it is quite big. There are plenty of tables and friendly staff always great you at the door and find you a table. The bar is obviously used by regulars, but they are friendly and you are not given the impression that you are not wanted there. The best thing about the hesketh is the food on a sunday! I have only ever visited on a sunday so i’m not sure what food they do on other days of the week, but on a sunday is a roast dinner. It is a carvery restaurant so you buy your tickets, and then go and get your food when your ready. A friendly chef greats you at the cavery and asked which meat you would like. There is usually a choice of about 4 different meats, and if you like your welcome to have a bit of each! You then serve yourself with veg and potatoes. Once you’ve plated up what you want to eat there is a sauces stop where you can put any sauces you want on your plate. not forgetting the gravy! The food is of a great quality and it is always hot and very tasty! The tickets for a sunday carvery are around £8-£9 each but for the food you get this is well worth it! The pub/restaurant itself is lovely to sit in, especially in the winter with the fires going. The atmosphere of this pub is great. Definatley recommended!

Just around my corner with the best carvery available. Something for everyone and a huge selection of salads too. Their Christmas menu is commendable.

This is a decent pub in a more-than-decent area. The pub’s policy of intolerance to under-25s, foul language, anybody wearing hoods, baseball caps or not very much at all, or playing loud music from their car stereos in the summer ensures an idiot-free time for all. Lots of proper ales on offer here(Adnams, Theakies) and the Sunday carvery is definitely worth a go. Pay a one-off fee of around £13 and you can eat as much as you fairly well like from the array of meats, roast veg and three kinds of gravy. The only caveat can be the queues, but if you get there after 2pm-ish you should be alright.
