The Bakehouse

WOW! Its been a while since I have bought bread this good before. We stumbled across this real bakery when we were on the search for the cheese shop and it is right next door. We spoke to the baker and he told us it was all part of the same business, the bakers and the cheese shop and the bakery had outgrown the building and was soon to be moving a mile or two up the road.
Anyhow, we walked through the front door and were amazed at the wonderful display of freshly baked breads available to buy. From super open textured, crunchy baguettes to heavy sourdough and super soft farmhouse loaves, stilton and walnut bread, oily foccaccia and on and on. There was also a small selection of sweets such as really nutty brownies, pain au chocolat and danish. Everything looked so good, it took us forever to narrow down our choices. We ended up buying four loaves of bread and two cakes. All were beautiful and very tasty which is a big lack in most of today’s crappy supermarket breads which people have become accustomed. My favourite was the baguette, it really was out of this world.
The breads were a little pricey but WELL worth it. And the place is definetly worth a visit!
